During her time in the Navy, she worked as a diesel mechanic troubleshooting equipment, and later transitioned to the Army as a combat medic. These formative experiences not only strengthened her resolve but also shaped her interest in healthcare and human anatomy.

After her military career, Rebecka pursued her education in dental hygiene, a steppingstone into a world she hoped would allow her to make a meaningful difference. After graduating in 2015, she began practicing as a dental hygienist. However, her innate curiosity and desire to further patient care soon pushed her beyond the traditional boundaries of dental hygiene.

While working with patients, she became fascinated by the connection between oral health and overall well-being, which ignited her exploration into myofunctional therapy—a discipline focused on oral-facial recovery through muscle function and airway improvement. She became a certified myofunctional therapist, immersing herself in this emerging field to better address the causes behind sleep apnea, jaw dysfunction, and airway obstructions.

Rebecka's quest for holistic solutions didn’t stop there. Recognizing the need for more hands-on rehabilitative care for patients recovering from surgeries or chronic conditions such as TMJ and trigeminal neuralgia, she enrolled in massage therapy school to broaden her expertise. She specialized in techniques like lymphatic drainage, intraoral massage, and scar tissue softening therapy, creating comprehensive care plans that addressed individualized patient needs.

Her practice became a beacon for patients with complex oral-facial conditions, including those recovering from oral surgeries or struggling with sleep apnea. Rebecka’s dedication is marked by her integrative approach—bringing together the fields of dentistry, myofunctional therapy, and therapeutic massage into a seamless blend of care that treats the patient as a whole.

Beyond clinical work, Rebecka is an advocate for expanding interdisciplinary methods in healthcare. This course is open to dental hygienists, dental therapists and dentists who would like to expand the services they offer to their existing patients.

Level 2 will build upon these principles (focused on cancer care) and Level 3 will be for a provider who would like to make Orofacial Recovery one of their main services or their career.

Yes, the course is open to any English speaking, licensed dental provider listed above (RDH, DDS, DT).

Yes, CE credit is offered through Academy of General Dentistry (AGD PACE), which is a US based CE program. Check with your governing body to see if the credits will be accepted.

It is your responsibility to interpret your governing bodies guidelines. Neither NNHH or Orofacial Recovery Institute can do that for you.

Go to your state or province governing body website and print your guidelines. Read and highlight them and reach out to your professional organization with specific questions.

Know that these techniques can be taught to a patient (and/or their loved one) virtually, in addition to in-person manual therapy. In a virtual context, you are educating and coaching, not practicing dentistry, dental therapy, or dental hygiene.

Previous education (nor certification) in orofacial myofunctional therapy is not required.

While it will be helpful if you do have some training in it already, Rebecka will teach you what you need to know to perform these techniques.

You will NOT be an orofacial myologist or myofunctional therapist as a result of taking this course.

This course would be a good foundation for that training and certification in the future, if you are inclined to keep going.

Insurance does not currently pay for these services, but they may in the future.

Patients pay cash for these services, or use their medical savings accounts. They are actually happy to, to get out of pain and regain function.

Rebecka will share billing codes and sample fee schedules with you to prepare you to offer these services in your practice and to use the billing codes which will help insurance eventually pay for the services.

Level 1 and Level 2 are fully online and self-paced with no live components, so you may consume the material at a pace, and in a place that best suits your needs. 

Level 3 will have a hands on component and be in person with Rebecka.

You will have lifetime access to the program and any updated version in the future.

No, they are not required. The average clinician will learn enough to begin applying the concepts and treating orofacial pain with level 1. Those who want to go deeper can continue on with other courses.

No. This is a Certificate Program with a lifetime term, so no renewal is offered or required.
