Meet Rona A Healthcare Hygienist with Heart

Meet Rona Prescott, RDH. She is a Healthcare Hygienist with Heart from North Carolina. She is a proud member of NNHH, and is currently working as a Claims Analyst. 

She joined us because she was interested in the Oral Systemic Educator Certificate Program that is included with our membership. She was excited to have access to a large amount of CE at such a low price point, and wanted to feel better prepared to educate patients, other healthcare workers, her family and friends. She also loves research! She plans to focus on diabetes, cardiology and pediatrics once she completes the program. She feels her working knowledge of system Integration, EDI, TR3, claims and prior approval processing will help her carve out a unique niche for herself.

She said, "I previously worked to help set up a dental system. I’ve conducted educational sessions at local elementary schools and my church and been an advocate to support, educate and protect children who have asthma. It's important to share your dreams with others. You have to network. That's why I joined! I found my current role by word of mouth."

Women's health and menopause also tug at her heart strings. She lived with many perimenopause symptoms and would like to help others with her research someday. She is also a writer and is currently working on a reference book for Registered Dental Hygienists!

She wants people to know that RDHs are healthcare providers who save lives. She has referred many of her patients to their physician to discover they had a number of serious issues going on from oral manifestation.
